Refrigerator Perry

This is simply a sad story to tell. I remember William Perry as a big guy running for the Bears in 1985. I remember how much of a name he made for himself with really nothing more than size as his ally. But to read the story of his life after football is sad. He [...]

Super Bowl recap

So, I’m a little late with the Super Bowl recap, but I figured there’s not much else to talk about right now. Until Opening Day in April, so I might as well make this one count. As I was watching the game, the one thing that came to mind was how sloppy quarterbacks are under [...]

Football helmet

Why are you keeping this to yourself, Green Bay? Aaron Rodgers, kids are starting to look up to you as quarterback for the Green Bay Packers. Why won’t you tell them what type of football helmet you wore that kept you from getting a concussion? These kids want to be safe when they play in high school [...]

Super Bowl not-bound

I had to wait a few days before listening to any sports radio. I can handle when my favorite team doesn’t play well. What I do struggle with is the media cutting them down. For the most part, though, what the media thought of the Bears game coincided a lit with my opinion of it. The Bears flat out stunk [...]

Football Talk

This was a great weekend for football and next weekend could be potentially better. Chicago won to advance to a title game against an old rival, and New England got busted. The Patriots are the football equivalent of the Yankees. Anytime they lose is a good weekend for me.

NFL playoff analysis

I said last week that I don’t really follow the NFL playoffs unless the Chicago Bears are involved, but I do like to follow the progress. And no one gives a more enjoyable analysis than Gregg Easterbrook, aka the Tuesday Morning Quarterback. I don’t even have to know which players he is specifically talking about, [...]

Playoffs

Ever since the Chicago Bears won the division a few weeks ago, I haven’t paid much attention to football. I have no rooting interest in what other teams do. So, I was a little surprised to see that the playoffs begin this Saturday. But again, since the Bears have this week off as division winners, [...]

NFC Champs

As a native of the Midwest and Illinois specifically, I have to say I’m really glad to see the Chicago Bears win the NFC North division title. Many of the epxerts in NFL circles didn’t pick the Bears to do much this year. So I love to see a Chicago team stick it to these [...]

Bear Down, Chicago Bears

I can probably be described as a casual football fan at best. I root for Chicago no matter what, but I only will watch the last few minutes of a football game. If the game has been close up to that point, that’s when most of the drama occurs. So, I was watching the game [...]

Broken Bush

I wonder if some will call this karmic retribution. Reggie Bush, fresh from his surrender of the Heisman Trophy, has been sidelined after breaking his leg this past weekend. Now, before you start worrying, it wasn’t one of those grotesque Joe Theisman breaks. Bush just planted his foot awkwardly and physics did the rest very [...]
