Let the regular season of baseball commence. I know that many parts of the country still have regular temperatures in the 40s and 50s, but opening day is always fun. I remember opening day in 2005, I was so happy the White Sox had won their first game. Little did I realize how much history I would see in that year.

But this is taking things too far. I don’t care if other members of the Bears are known to come around, firing someone over a tie is just thin-skinned. If the customers thought it was funny, then that should be the ultimate judge.

With all the sporting activities and events we can watch and participate in, I started wondering what the manliest sport is. let’s just list some sports in contention for this honor:

  1. Baseball
  2. Football
  3. Golf
  4. Hockey
  5. MMA
  6. Boxing
  7. Auto Racing
  8. Soccer

OK, that should give us enough to start with.

Now, in my opinion, in order to be considered manly, you have to have as little protection as possible, so goodbye football. Next, it has to be a sport that is not team based, so adios baseball, soccer and hockey, unfortunately. Then, any sport must have a training regimen that is beyond regular fitness programs.  Golf is eliminated due to the lack of necessity for training.  Any guy with a beer gut can get up and smack the ball, so golf is eliminated and so is auto racing. We all drive, so there’s no strenuous regimen required.  That leaves just boxing and MMA.  And of those two, I have to give the edge to MMA due to the overall physicality of it.

I’ve always loved baseball for the simple fact that every pitch has the potential to be a difference maker in the game. Think about it. If your favorite basketball team is down by four with 2 seconds left, the game is over. February is a crazy month for sports. As we roll in March we are seeing the WWE ramp into their wrestlemania season training camps will be starting for baseball! This is really an exciting time foe any sports fan. So, I apologize if my posting this month has revolved around sports. I am a dude after all!
