I just recently started watching the Office via Netflix. My taste in shows is really unique; I don’t catch the premiere of too many shows any more since I’ve been disappointed so much in the past. I usually wait for a few years to see if the show sticks around, then I play catch up via DVD or Netflix. The Office is one I’m really late to the party on, mainly because my understanding of the premise was that it centered on the idiotic boss. Call me crazy, but I’m not the biggest fan of watching people openly embarass themselves. What got me watching, though, was the supporting cast. I actually am more entertained when the office brown-noser is the butt of pranks.

It makes me wonder who comes up with these accounts and which TV exec is mining Twitter for show ideas.

Now, it’s hard to remember that the show had more than Mr. T, but that show was appointment TV when I was growing up. Even at that young age, I marveled at how many bullets flew through the air and never hit a single man. I understand now why that was the case, but it still seems funny. Fox News ran a slideshow of then/now images. Most of the cast has done well for themselves, except for George Peppard who unfortunately passed in 1994. And that van was just plain awesome. Take a look here.

Well, I watched the final Tonight Show with Conan, and I must say I sam impressed with how he carried himself that night. He came out and made his cracks against NBC, justifiably so, and went through his show like normal. What impressed me most was his farewell. He was thankful to NBC for all of his opportunities even though he acknowledged they were parting due to differences. He then thanked his fans for their support and you could see the emotion starting to get to him. But I loved the message to the young people about cynicism and the lack of anything positive that comes from it. If anyone had a right to be cynical, it was Conan, but he was there expressing his appreciation for everything and saying this is the best way to handle adversity.

Nice job, Conan. We’ll see you in the future. I know we will.

Well, after many days of wailing and gnashing of teeth, NBC and Conan O’Brien have agreed to a deal that will end his tenure on the Tonight Show after 7 months. This will allow Jay Leno to resume the hosting role. I just think it’s incredibly tacky for NBC to do this since they announced Conan as the replacement host way back in 2004, then they let him go after less than a year. I always thought Conan was funny and any transition like this takes time. Boo NBC!
